Geane Carvalho Alzamora is a journalist (Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais/Brazil), Master and PhD in Communication and Semiotics (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo/Brazil) with a PhD at the Universität Kassel (Germany) and a postdoctoral degree at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain). She is an Associate Professor at the Social Communication Department at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and at the Postgraduate Program in Social Communication at UFMG (Brazil). Coordinator of the Research Advisory Center/Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences/UFMG. She is a co-author of “Theory, Development, and Strategy in Transmedia Storytelling” (London: Routledge, 2020, with Renira Rampazzo Gambarato and Lorena Tárcia). She co-organized “Dossiê Latour” (Belo Horizonte: Editora UFMG, 2020, with Joana Ziller and Francisco Coutinho), “Exploring Transmedia Journalism in the Digital Age” (Hershey: IG Global, 2018 with Renira Rampazzo Gambarato), “Textualidades Midiáticas” (Barcelona: UOC, 2017 with Bruno Souza Leal and Carlos Alberto Carvalho; and Belo Horizonte: PPGCOM/UFMG, 2018); “Kulturdialoge Brasilien/Deutschland: Design, Film, Literature, Media” (Berlin: Tranvia Sur, 2008, with Simone Malagutti and Renira Gambarato). She received the Freitas Nobre Prize (doctoral thesis) from the Brazilian Association of Communication Sciences (Intercom) in 2006, and the Intercom Award, master's degree, Journalism Mode, in 1997. She researches transmedia dynamics, semiotics and contemporary communication theory with the support of CNPq, FAPEMIG, CAPES and UFMG.
